Trinity, the True Understanding of GodFebruary 2, 2024
The True Meaning of the Trinity
Why is it important to understand the true meaning of the Trinity? Do God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit exist as three separate Beings or are They all One and the same? The Trinity is one of the most fundamental subjects of the Bible, thus the people of God must come to understand in order to have correct knowledge of God. We must first have a thorough understanding of the age of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in order to grasp the Trinity.
Whom Does the Bible Testify About?
John 5:39-40 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.
If we do not have correct knowledge of the Trinity we will misunderstand there are God the Father Jehovah, God the Son Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit. If the Trinity is not understood correctly the teachings of the Bible will cause confusion and it will be difficult to comprehend the Bible. For example in the Old Testament the Bible testifies that only Jehovah is the savior (Isa. 43:11) but in the New Testament it testifies only Jesus is the savior (Ac. 4:11-12). Then Whom does the Bible testify to believe in? If the Trinity is not understood clearly people can not help but to have an incorrect point of view insisting on their own opinions, rather than focusing on what the Bible testifies about. The pharisees and teachers of the law 2,000 years ago did not recognize Christ because of their misunderstanding but instead rejected Him, we should not make the same mistake today. They could not believe in God because they did not believe the Almighty and All powerful God could come as a man (Jn 10:33). On the other hand, the apostles whom walked with Christ had a correct understanding of the Trinity (Jn1:1) and understood God can come as a man. As history repeats itself we should come to accept the words of the Bible for what they are like the apostles, and not manipulate them to our own destruction as the pharisees and teachers of the law.
Understanding the Trinity
The term Trinity means, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are One and the same God. An example we can use to better understand is the molecular compound of water. Water consist of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom, H2O. When under cold temperatures water, which is a liquid, transforms into ice which is solid. When water is put under hot temperatures it transforms into vapor which is a gas. Though the name and form changes its molecular compound still remains the same, H2O. In the same way, though God has three different names and ways to appear before man He is still One and the same God. Now, let us understand through the Bible.
God the Father, God the Son, & God the Holy Spirit
Confirming God the Father Jehovah and God the Son Jesus Christ are One and the Same
Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
The child is Mighty God, the everlasting Father. Thus God the Father Jehovah was born in the flesh as God the Son Jesus Christ. Jesus is God the Father Jehovah.
Philippians 2:5-6 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage
Who on this earth can we say is in very nature God, except God Himself.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
When we read both verses in John together we can come to understand Jehovah and Jesus are One and the Same God. As aforementioned, the Bible testifies there is no other savior but Jehovah in the Old Testament but in the New Testament it says there is no savior other than Jesus. If God the Father Jehovah and God the Son Jesus were not the same God then this would be a huge contradiction in the Bible. However, we can understand both of Them are the savior because They are both One and the same God.
Confirming God the Father Jehovah and God the Holy Spirit are One and the Same
1 Corinthians 2:11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
Can one man understand the thoughts of another man? Of course not. Then how can the Holy Spirit know the thoughts of God. It can only be because God the Father Jehovah and God the Holy Spirit are One and the same God.
1Corinthians 2:10 These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
Confirming God the Son Jesus and God the Holy Spirit are One and the Same
1 John 2:1 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
In the above verse, the advocate refers to Jesus Christ. Let us see a mated verse.
John 14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
We see the Holy Spirit is referred to as the advocate. Then who is the advocate that leads all of God’s people to salvation only Jesus or only the Holy Spirit? God the Son Jesus and God the Holy Spirit are One and the same God, the Advocate, thus they both lead Their children to the kingdom of heaven in Their respective ages.
God the Holy Spirit
It is important to understand that God is leading all mankind towards salvation and the kingdom of heaven by using a different name in each age. In the age of the Father Jehovah led His people to Canaan the promised land. In the age of the son Jesus sacrificed on the cross to bring salvation to all people. Since we live in the age of the Holy Spirit we should seek the name of the Holy Spirit and come to Him for salvation. He is the One who led His people to Canaan the promised land, who sacrificed on the cross to bring salvation to all people, and who gives the free gift of the water of life. His name is Christ Ahnsahnghong and He is God who has come as a man to lead us to salvation.
