Foot-Washing Ceremony Taught by Jesus
Before participating in the Passover ceremony (partaking of the bread and wine), we must first participate in the Foot-Washing ceremony which was conducted by Jesus as an example for us. With biblical records we can confirm that no one can participate in the Passover before washing the feet.
John 13:1-7 “It was just before the Passover Festival…he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
John 13:12-15 “When he had finished washing their feet…I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”
At first, Apostle Peter who faithfully followed Jesus did not understand why Jesus had to wash his feet.
John 13:8-10 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!” Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean…””
Nevertheless, Jesus taught Peter that He had to wash Peter’s feet to let him participate in the Passover. Meaning, there is no exception to this rule. If we call ourselves faithful, we definitely must follow the examples set by Jesus and by participating in the foot-washing ceremony, we can become actual followers of Christ.
Foot-Washing Took Place in the Old Testament Times
The Old Testament describes the ceremony of the priests having to wash both hands and feet from a basin before they entered the tent of meeting to carry out their work of ministry. With no exception, only the priests who washed could enter.
Ex. 30:17-20 “Then the Lord said to Moses, “Make a bronze basin, with its bronze stand, for washing. Place it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it. Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and feet with water from it. Whenever they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water…”
The priests who disobeyed could never enter the tent of meeting once again and were put to death.
Ex. 30:20-21 “Whenever they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water so that they will not die. Also, when they approach the altar to minister by presenting a food offering to the Lord, they shall wash their hands and feet so that they will not die. This is to be a lasting ordinance for Aaron and his descendants for the generations to come.””
God kept it as a very strict ceremony that could not be broken. In the New Testament, Jesus, God in the flesh, came and said just washing the feet is enough. To enter the temple which represents Christ through the Passover, we must observe the foot-washing ceremony according to the New Testament regulations. What matters more is the New Testament regulations taught directly by Jesus. If we do not wash our feet, we can imagine what will happen to us spiritually with Jesus’ words:
John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
Observing Passover in an Unworthy Manner?
During the apostolic age, there were some saints who kept the Passover in an unworthy manner which the Apostle Paul criticized that they brought judgment upon themselves. If we don’t examine ourselves before participating in the Passover, then, in the end, we will be guilty of a greater sin that causes death.
1 Cor. 11:23-30 “For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you…So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.”
The Passover is a holy feast that grants us eternal life, the seal of God and the Tree of life. If we wish to receive such blessings from God, we must participate in the foot-washing sacred ceremony which has procedures and regulations which we must obey. This is a way how we can participate in the Passover in a “worthy manner.” With this ceremony we can also discern that is only the World Mission Society Church of God that actually follows the direct teachings of Jesus.Category Beliefs>Beliefs>Christ Ahnsahnghong Second Coming Christ and Hidden Manna
When the Second Coming Christ comes to save His people in the last age, we can confirm with the prophecies recorded in the Bible that He will bring the New Covenant Passover; the reality of hidden Manna.
Christ Gives Eternal Life
John 5:39-40 “You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.”
The Bible testifies about the second coming Christ. With the Bible we can realize who He is and can receive eternal life. Without the Bible, we can neither meet God nor enter salvation.
John 6:29-31 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” So they asked him, “What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’“
People wanted to find out if Jesus was God and they asked Jesus for a sign as a proof. The sign they asked Jesus for was to rain down manna from Heaven just like their ancestors in the times of Jehovah. Why did the people ask Jesus specifically to rain down the manna?
The Origin of Manna
Ex 16:1-7, 31 The whole Israelite community…grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you…….The people of Israel called the bread manna…..
As the Bible quotes, the Israelites ran out of food one month after they left Egypt. The people worried and began to grumble against Moses and Aaron. In order to help them, God rained down bread from Heaven which was called “Manna.”
The Reality of Manna
This manna in the desert simply refers to physical food. Jesus said those who ate the manna in the desert ended up dying, nevertheless, He mentioned that there is bread that gives eternal life.
John 6:49-58 “Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”……..Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day…the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”
Jesus indicates that His flesh is the reality of manna and that if we eat His flesh and drink His blood we can receive eternal life.
The Manna is the Passover
Mt 26:17-18, 26-28 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”…While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
The Passover is the way to eat Jesus’ flesh; the reality of manna. The Passover bread represents Jesus’ flesh and the wine His blood. According to John 6:53, we can receive eternal life if we keep the Passover.
During the 4th century, the Passover of the new covenant was abolished in the Council of Nicaea. Since then, the Passover could not be found anywhere on this Earth. The Bible prophesied that Christ would come a second time for salvation.
Heb 9:28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Salvation is given through the Jesus’ flesh and blood; the Passover of the new covenant, the reality of manna. Revelation describes this manna as a “hidden manna” because the Passover was abolished and hasn’t been kept for approximately 1,600 years.
Second Coming Christ Gives the Hidden Manna
Rev 2:17 “Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.”
Revelation records a prophecy about the second coming Jesus (God of the Holy Spirit) giving out this hidden manna. God already prophesied that His set times and laws would be changed (Gal 1:6 & Dan 7:25). If God’s set times and laws remain changed, no one can reach salvation, which is the reason why God needed to come to restore the Passover. It is only Christ Ahnsahnghong who restored the Passover of the new covenant. We can confirm that He must be the second coming Christ with the hidden manna.
Category Beliefs>Beliefs>Christian Essentials The Tree of Life and the Truth of Eternal Life
According to the teachings of the Bible, the Passover is a very important Feast of God. Jesus came to this Earth to teach us the Passover and God has come in this age as the Spirit and the Bride to teach us the Passover again. We can learn about the Passover through the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil that were in the Garden of Eden.
The Parable of the Tree of Life
Gen. 2:16-17 And the LORD God commanded the man “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.
Gen. 3:1-5 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden but God did say, ‘You must not eat from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’” “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Sin originated in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and death came after sin came to this world. Adam and Eve all existed in reality, nevertheless, Jesus taught us the hidden meaning of this story of the creation of the world recorded in Genesis as a parable.
Mt. 13:34-35 Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: “I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.”
Adam and Eve could not stay in the Garden of Eden when they disobeyed God’s commandment.
Isa. 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.
Through Adam and Eve we can understand that we can be separated from God if we sin by disobeying His commandments. The story of Adam and Eve shows us our spiritual status on this Earth. All men are destined to die because of sin committed before we came down to this Earth,
Ro. 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
since even a new born child can die before even sinning on this Earth.
Gen. 3:22-23 And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.
Because Adam and Eve sinned, God blocked the way to the Tree of life. If God has blocked the Tree of Life, only God can opened the way to the Tree of Life. God must open the way to the Tree of Life since it is the only way for us sinners to go back to Heaven.
God warned Adam and Eve not to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and evil because it causes death. Anyone who ate from the Tree of Life could live forever. This is the secret that Jesus taught us through the parable of the Tree of Life.
The Reality of the Tree of Life
John 6:52-57 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.
In the Garden of Eden, it was the Tree of Life that could grant eternal life. Jesus taught us the reality of this parable by telling us that it is His flesh and blood that gives us eternal life. Meaning, Jesus is the reality of the Tree of Life. If we drink His blood and eat His flesh, it would be the same as eating the fruit of the Tree of Life.
Mt. 26:17-19 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.
Jesus commanded the disciples to keep the Passover and He Himself also kept it as an example for us.
Mt. 26:26-28 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Jesus said the Passover bread is His flesh and the Passover wine is His blood. Whoever eats the bread and drinks the wine of the Passover are the ones who can be acknowledged by Jesus as the ones who have eaten Jesus’ flesh and blood. By keeping the Passover it is the same as eating from the Tree of Life. Passover however is granted as a covenant with God’s precious blood of sacrifice. Jesus, the Almighty God has opened the way to the Tree of Life. Nevertheless, many people do not know the importance of the Passover because they do not know the meaning of what a covenant is.
The Importance of the Covenant
To help us understand what a covenant is, let’s take the following example. Say that you wanted to purchase groceries so you presented a $50 bill to the cashier. The cashier would gladly accept it. However, what if you tried to give a plain piece of letter-sized paper to the cashier? The cashier would not accept it. Though a letter-sized paper may be larger than a $50 bill, it has no value to purchase since people haven’t promised for it to be valued as a bill. A promise is a covenant. The $50 bill has a special covenant made by people that gives it a promised value.
It is the same with the bread and wine of the Passover. There are many types of bread and wine but they are just regular food. A person simply saying “this bread gives eternal life” does not mean that it really does. It has to have a covenant. Jesus Himself promised for the bread and wine only on the Passover to become the new covenant.
Lk 22:7-9 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.” “Where do you want us to prepare for it?” they asked.
The books of Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John all show the scene of the Passover. We can see many times in the Bible where Jesus told His disciples to prepare the Passover on the appointed time. This means we must keep the Passover according to the appointed promised date and time which Jesus commanded us to keep.
Lk 22:7-15 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”… So they prepared the Passover. When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
Lk 22:19-20 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
Jesus said He eagerly desired to keep the Passover with His disciples. If God who came to take away the sins from the world has eagerly desired to keep it, this means it relates with our salvation. By keeping the Passover people can be freed from sin and death.
The Restoration of the Passover
Jesus opened the way to the Tree of Life by commanding to us all to keep the Passover so that we can receive eternal life. Although the members of the Early Church celebrated the Passover, the Roman Emperor Constantine abolished the Passover in 325 AD. Of course, this all happened according to the prophecy of the Bible.
Dan. 7:25 He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time.
Since God already knew this would happen, He prophesied to come again to restore the Passover.
Heb. 9:28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
The prophet Isaiah emphasizes how the Passover would be restored in the last days.
Isa. 25:6-8 On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine — the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken.
God said He will prepare a banquet of aged wine that destroys death forever. We have confirmed that it is only the wine of the Passover that destroys death forever. The wine is expressed as “aged wine” since Passover has not been kept ever since it has been changed in the Council of Nicaea, for approximately 1,600 years. If someone comes and restores the Passover according to the prophecy, we can be assured He must be God Almighty who must be opening the way to the Tree of Life.
Isa. 25:9 In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
The World Mission Society Church of God is the only church that keeps the Passover. This means Christ Ahnsahnghong who restored the Passover is God who has opened the way to the Tree of Life, has granted us the banquet with aged wine that destroys death forever.Category Beliefs>Beliefs>Christian Essentials Zion is Where God Appears to Give Eternal Life
The Origin of the Laws of God
In the Old Testament, the law of God first came out from Mount Sinai. God proclaims His law from Mount Zion in the New Testament times. What does it mean that the law comes out from Zion? The fact that the law comes out from Zion implies that God the Savior will appear from Zion. First, let us see how the law appeared on Mt. Sinai.
Ex. 24:12 The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you the tablets of stone, with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.”
Ex. 31:18 When the Lord finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.
On Mt. Sinai God gave the two stone tablets with the law and commands He had written. This was the law of the Old Covenant, also referred to as the Law of Moses, which God gave to His people for the first time. And the other law of God appears in a place other than Mt. Sinai.
Isa. 2:2-4 In the last days, the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
Isaiah prophesied that the law will go out from Mt. Zion. In the past, the law came out from Mt. Sinai, but in the last days, the law will go out from Mt. Zion.
Rev. 14:1 Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.
In the book of Revelation, it is prophesied that the Lamb, God Almighty, will appear in Zion. God teaches us that the law is proclaimed in Zion. Who will proclaim the law in Zion?
Mic. 4:1-2 In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. Many nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
God will teach us His ways, the truth, so that we may walk in His paths. It is God who proclaims the law in Zion. Through God’s law, He reigns over His people and leads them. However, the prophecy does not state God will reign with the law that He proclaimed from Mt. Sinai 3,500 years ago. It is prophesied God will teach us with the law that comes out from Zion and He will reign over us with that law. Let us learn more about the law of life God proclaims from Zion in this last age.
God Gives Eternal Life in Zion
Eternal Life Prophesied From Zion
Isa. 52:7-10 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the LORD returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes. Burst into songs of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem, for the LORD has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem. The LORD will lay bare his holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.
God said the feet of those who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” are beautiful. In Zion, the LORD will comfort His people and they will see with their own eyes, the salvation of God. Let us confirm once more, that Christ, who is the Lamb, reigns in Zion.
Isa. 25:6-9 On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine— the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain …he will swallow up death forever. …In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
Isa. 24:23 The moon will be dismayed, the sun ashamed; for the LORD Almighty will reign on Mount Zion.
In Isaiah 24, it is confirmed that the mountain of the LORD Almighty is Zion. Where does the Savior appear? He appears in Zion and swallows up death forever. With what does God destroy death forever? It is with the aged wine. What kind of wine has the power to swallow up death forever? It is only the Passover wine. Which law contains the Passover Wine? It is the law of the New Covenant. Let us confirm that God promises to swallow up death forever through the law of the New Covenant.
The New Covenant Passover is the Way to Eternal Life
Lk. 22:7-9 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.” “Where do you want us to prepare for it?” they asked.
Lk. 22:19-20 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”
What law does the Lamb who reigns on Mount Zion bring us? The law of the New Covenant. On the day of the Passover, God gives us bread and wine as Jesus’ flesh and blood. He called this the New Covenant. Does this really have the power to swallow up death forever?
Jn. 6:53-54 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
Jesus clearly states that we have no eternal life in us unless we eat His flesh and drink His blood. Only those who eat Jesus’ flesh and drink His blood will have eternal life and God will raise them up at the last day. However, can we eat Jesus’ actual flesh and blood? It is impossible. This is why Jesus made a ceremony allowing us to eat His flesh and drink His blood. Through the ceremony of the Passover of the New Covenant, Jesus let the Passover wine represent His blood and the Passover bread represents His flesh. What did Jesus promise to give people who eat His flesh and drink His blood? Eternal life. Giving us eternal life means to destroy death forever.
Only God Can Establish the Law of the New Covenant
God has appeared on this earth with the law of the New Covenant. The bible says the only one who can establish the law of the New Covenant is God.
Jer. 31:31 “The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.
God said He will make a new covenant with His people.
Jer 31:32-34 It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them, ” declares the LORD. “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the LORD. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the LORD. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
When God led His people out of Egypt, God established the law of the Passover of the Old Covenant. Through Moses, God proclaimed the Old Covenant on Mt. Sinai. And God said He will establish a New Covenant, which will be different than the first because His people broke the Old Covenant. It is prophesied that at the appointed time God will come to this earth to establish and proclaim the New Covenant from Zion. When we see this fulfilled, we will be able to identify God Almighty with our very own eyes in Zion. It is only God who can fulfill this prophecy in Jeremiah. It is only God who can come to establish and proclaim the law of the New Covenant and bless us to realize it.
Isa 29:10 The LORD has brought over you a deep sleep: He has sealed your eyes (the prophets); he has covered your heads (the seers).
Jesus proclaimed the Passover of the New Covenant 2,000 years ago. However, after the Apostolic Age, the Passover was abolished in 325 A.D. Afterwards, the truth was destroyed one by one and the dark ages took place as it was prophesied in the Bible. A long time of 1,600 years passed of spiritual darkness. Although the Bible was still accessible to all people for those 1,600 years, no one ever mentioned keeping the New Covenant Passover. What is the reason? It is because God said only He will establish, proclaim and restore the truth of the New Covenant.
God Has Appeared in Zion
It is prophesied God will come to this earth to establish the law of the New Covenant. God said He will proclaim this New Covenant from Zion and grant salvation. When we see this fulfilled, we will be able to identify God Almighty in the flesh with our very own eyes in Zion. Only those who belong to God will hear what God says and come to Zion to meet God and receive salvation.
Jn 8:47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
If we want to be the ones who belong to God and receive eternal life, we need to keep the New Covenant Passover, which has already been established by God in Zion.Category Beliefs>Beliefs>Christian Essentials Passover of the New Covenant is the Truth of Life
The Kingdom of Heaven through the Passover of the new covenant
No more death, mourning, crying or pain – this is what the Kingdom of Heaven will be like. To receive this gracious promise of salvation, it is essential to know and believe that the Passover of the new covenant is the truth of life. Christians know that they must have faith to be saved, but faith must be accompanied by action (James 2:26). Salvation belongs only to God. What action does God want us to take to express our faith? Keep the Passover!
I’ve never heard of the Passover, what is it?
The Passover is the truth of life and an everlasting commandment from God. However, Christians around the world still don’t even know when it is, or what exactly it is. Since it is essential to our salvation then it should be the first thing we know! Both in the old and new testaments God uses the Passover as the way of freedom and salvation for His people.
In the Old Testament God’s people, the Israelites, were under slavery in Egypt. In order to save His people and bring them out of Egypt, God instituted the Passover of the old covenant. They were emancipated and protected from the last of the ten plagues, the death of the firstborn. It was the only way to be saved from God!
Exodus 12:11-13 “This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the LORD’s Passover. On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD. The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.”
Since this is God’s feast, He commanded the Israelites to keep it according to these regulations. First, it was to be celebrated on an appointed day and at a specific time. God’s Passover is on the 14th day of the 1st month of the holy calendar (Exodus 12:6, Leviticus 23:4-5). It is also supposed to be kept by the sacrifice of the Passover lamb. The Israelites had to eat the meat of the lamb and pour the blood on the door frame of their homes. Those who kept this holy festival were freed from slavery and protected from destruction. It is truly an amazing commandment from God! Ever since the beginning we see that the Passover is the truth of life for God’s people.
Do we need to keep the Passover in the New Testament?
Absolutely we do! No matter what age it is, God commands His people to keep the Passover as a way of blessing.
“This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the LORD – a lasting ordinance.” Exodus 12:14
When God originally commanded the Passover, He made it an everlasting law. He did not put an expiration date, or time limitation. We even see Jesus commanding His disciples to keep the Passover of the new covenant, proving that we, too, should celebrate it.
Matthew 26:17-19 “On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.'” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.
Our Savior, Jesus Christ, surely commanded His people to keep the Passover in the New Testament times.
Like the Israelites we also need to be freed from slavery
In the old testament the Passover was the way God freed His people from slavery. Though we are not physical slaves, the bible teaches us that we, too, need emancipation.
John 8:34 ” Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.”
As sinners we are slaves to sin and death (Romans 6:23), and we must be set free through the truth (John 8:32). The Passover of the new covenant has the power to forgive us of our sins, freeing us from spiritual slavery, as well as, giving us the promise of eternal life.
I have to slaughter a lamb?!
Only if we understand the ministry of Jesus Christ, can we know how to keep the Passover in our age. Christ came to fulfill the law, not abolish it (Matthew 5:17), then the old testament teaches us the way of salvation in the new testament. The old covenant established through the Law of Moses was fulfilled by Jesus. He made the new covenant, establishing the Law of Christ. Though we still need to keep the feast, we do not need to celebrate it with an animal sacrifice. If we don’t have to sacrifice a lamb, then how do we keep the Passover of the new covenant?
Luke 22:7-20 “Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover….When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer….And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”
According to the regulations of the new covenant we are to celebrate the Passover with the bread and wine. This bread and wine represents the flesh and blood of Christ. This is why the Bible describes Christ as our Passover lamb (1 Corinthians 5:7). He is the fulfillment of the Passover lamb, and it is through His sacrifice we are saved.
The Passover of the new covenant is the truth of life and way of salvation
The bread and wine represents Christ’s flesh and blood. Christ was so eager to give us the Passover of the new covenant because it is the way of salvation.
John 6:53-54 “Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
Christ promises us the amazing gift of salvation through His flesh and blood. The annual feast of the Passover is the only way that we may participate in this truth of life.
Why haven’t I heard of it before?
Though it is so clear in the Scriptures that we must keep the Passover of the new covenant for our salvation, most Christian churches don’t keep it. How is it that this precious teaching is unknown in modern day Christianity? We must always remember that our spiritual enemy is constantly working against us. Since the Passover is the truth of life, and the only way of salvation, then he does not want us to keep it. According to prophecy, many of the teachings of Christ were lost in what historians call the dark ages. One historical event of great importance was the Council of Nicea. At this council the Passover of the new covenant was abolished, and the way of salvation was completely destroyed. God knows all things, even the end from the beginning. We can see His warning about this in the book of Daniel.
Daniel 7:25 “He will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people and try to change the set times and the laws. The holy people will be delivered into his hands for a time, times, and half a time.”
That’s exactly what Satan did, he got rid of the set times and laws. Not only the Passover, but also the truth of the Sabbath day and all 7 holy feasts of God.
We give thanks to Ahnsahnghong who is the second coming Christ (Hebrews 9:28) and has restored to us all of the teachings in the bible. Before He came no one taught the truth of the Passover of the new covenant. By His coming, He has given us the sure promise that we will receive salvation and rejoice eternally in the Kingdom of Heaven.
