Unsealed by the Root of David: The Bible’s True Message

It’s common knowledge that the Bible is the best-selling book of all time.¹  The promises contained within the Bible have resulted in innumerable Christian churches and just as many denominations.  Each of these churches study the same Bible, but each interprets the Bible differently.  God’s message is perfect, but can every interpretation be faithful to God’s word?  Why do churches adopt different doctrines?  Through the prophecies in the book of Revelation, we will see that the Bible’s true interpretation is sealed and can only be unsealed by the Root of David.

Bible Interpretation for Salvation

People attend church to learn about and receive salvation. Every Christian church claims to have the means of to give salvation to its members. Can studying the Scriptures lead people to eternal life, either individually or with just any church? Let’s examine the reason why we need to study the Bible through Jesus’ words.

John 5:39  You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me

Was Jesus saying that everyone who studies the Scriptures would have eternal life? According to His own words, this is not the case.

Matthew 7:21  Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Teachings of Jesus

When Jesus addressed the Pharisees and teachers of the law, those responsible for the spiritual welfare of the people, did He commend them for their understanding of the Scriptures? On the contrary, He declared just the opposite.

Matthew 23:13  Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

Through Jesus’ words, we can see that even the most studied religious scholars do not interpret the Scriptures correctly and therefore cannot receive the gift of eternal life. Moreover, they lead others away from the kingdom of heaven. Although every Christian uses the same Bible, albeit in different translations, their collective understanding is wrong. How do we know? Jesus, Himself tells us through a revelation provided to Apostle John.

Revelation Received by Apostle John

In Revelation chapter 5, we see Apostle John weeping because the scroll (Bible) was perfectly sealed, and no one was found worthy to unseal the Bible.

Revelation 5:1-4  Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one . . . could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside.

Apostle John was so distraught because no one in the world could interpret the true meaning of the Bible. This passage does not describe the action of actually opening the Bible as people do every day. Being sealed means that not just anyone can know the correct interpretation of the Scriptures. Does this mean that we will never know the true meaning of God’s message?

Revelation 5:5  Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

God showed Apostle John that the scroll could only be unsealed by the Root of David.  Of all the churches in the world, we must seek the church established by the Root of David to find salvation.

The Time the Scroll is Unsealed

The Bible tells of the timeframe in which those who seek and revere David will be saved.

Hosea 3:5  Afterward the Israelites will return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They will come trembling to the Lord and to his blessings in the last days.

The prophet Hosea stated that God’s blessings could be found by those seeking David. God’s blessings include salvation and eternal life. When will those seeking David return to God? The Bible says, “in the last days.” This prophecy means that we can never be saved unless we do not meet David in the last days.

The Root of David

If only the Root of David can unseal the scroll (Bible), we must find the Root of David to find salvation. Then who will come as the Root of David in this age and open the Bible sealed with seven seals?

Revelation 22:16  I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.

The Root of David is Jesus. Does the Root of David in Revelation chapter 5 indicate the Jesus who came in the flesh 2,000 years ago? He must be the Second Coming Jesus since the prophecy was written after His First Coming. After Jesus’ first coming, the Bible is sealed for some time and then opened again when He appears a second time.

The Sign of the Root of David

Jesus comes as the Root of David in the last days, but how will we recognize Him? The Bible clearly shows many false Christs and false prophets will present themselves in the last days when Christ comes a second time. The Bible tells us that the Second Coming Christ, who comes as the Root of David, has a sign that proves His identity.

Isaiah 55:3  Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live.  I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.

God said He would establish an everlasting covenant with David to save our souls.  His promise was only to David, so the Savior who comes as David will bring the everlasting covenant as His sign.  To recognize the Second Coming Christ, we must know the everlasting covenant.  What is the everlasting covenant promised to David?

Hebrews 13:20  Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep

The everlasting (eternal) covenant established with blood indicates the covenant established with Jesus’ blood, the Passover of the New Covenant.

Luke 22:20 . . . he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

The New Covenant Passover, the sign of the Second Coming Jesus who gives us the Bible unsealed by the Root of David
The Last Supper depicts the New Covenant Passover, the sign of the Second Coming Jesus who gives us the Bible unsealed by the Root of David.

Christ Ahnsahnghong, the Root of David

Christ Ahnsahnghong restored the New Covenant Passover after it was abolished in A.D. 325 at the Council of Nicaea almost 1,700 years ago. The Passover, the everlasting covenant, proves that He is the Second Coming Jesus and the Root of David. Fulfilling all the prophecies of the Savior coming in the last days, Christ Ahnsahnghong established the World Mission Society Church of God and gave us the true teachings of the Bible unsealed by the Root of David. Only in the Church of God established by the Root of David can we find salvation.
