Commandments of God Containing Love
The Commandments of God are given to God’s people because God loves his people. A parent gives many guiding rules and commands to their child. This is because they want to help them grow up successful with a happy life. A parent tells their child to do their homework or to carry out chores in the household. The child feels like their parents are nagging them and bothering them. So the child comes to think what the parents are asking him to do is not important and has no value.
But behind the scenes, it is the parents who sacrifice their time and effort to teach the children good habits. Parents want the quality of children’s work to improve so that they can achieve a more successful future. The parents’ vision for the child’s future comes from their personal experience. And because the parents reached a certain life result, they earnestly seek to guide their child. Their goal is to lead them into a greater and brighter future through their commands and guidance.
In the Bible, God is teaching His children how to prepare for the most successful future through the commandments of God. God is the owner of the Kingdom of Heaven and can see the spiritual future. In addition, God knows who will be able to enter and who will not. The earnest love of God is to gather all His children into Heaven’s Kingdom safely and without any harm from Satan the Devil. This is why God’s people must keep the commandments of God to guarantee their salvation while living in this world.
Commands That Must Not Be Broken
The Lion Park
In 2015 an incident took place at a Lion Park in Johannesburg, South Africa. An American tourist went to visit the park. She was fond of wild animals and visited with a guide. At the lion park, visitors can drive their cars through the enclosure that contains a variety of free-roaming wildlife including Lions. Due to the safety risk of people coming into direct contact and being harmed by these wild predators, the park maintained one rule. The one rule all visitors must adhere to had stated that visitors must remain in their vehicles with locked doors and with windows closed at all times. This was the most important rule given by the park for visitors’ safety. They knew very well that harm was imminent to the visitors if they were not safely enclosed in their cars.
The American tourist had only known these animals through TV screens and computer monitors and now they were right before her very eyes. She must have been so excited and in awe of the experience. She captured the experience through many pictures taken from within her vehicle. As she came across a pride of lions who were seemingly laying about, she desired to take more pictures of the animals. Not thinking about her own well-being, she rolled down her window and began capturing more photographs of the lions.
Because she did not keep in mind the park’s command at that moment, she neglected to follow the rule. With her window down she continued to capture photographs while a lion approached the vehicle from the side. The tourist and her guide did not detect the approaching lion at all. The lion attacked the women through her open window and fatally wounded her.
Unfortunately, the tourist lost her life that day. It is a traumatic event through which we can learn an invaluable lesson. Foreseeing the future of all of the visitors’ safety, the park instituted that rule. While the rule was broken, the one who broke it didn’t concern themselves with future consequences. Such a tragedy took place while losing sight of the future for a moment. We can realize the same fact concerning God’s Commands and our salvation.
We Must Not Break the Commandments of God
The Spiritual Lion Park
Rules and Commands have the purpose to guide and shape actions in order to reach a specific result in the future. God made rules and commands with His love. The Bible describes the Devil as a roaring lion looking to devour his prey.
1 Peter 5: 8-9 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
Just as God gives us His commands to guide our spiritual future, the Devil also slyly introduces his commands to humankind to alter the destiny of souls into destruction. When God tells us to do something and to not do something, we can understand it is because God has a clear vision of the spiritual world and guides us with care and concern. If we break God’s commandment, it is as if we did not have them at all. We will then be defenseless to the spiritual attacks from Satan on our souls.
The Spiritual Lion Breaks the Commandments of God
The Bible describes the Devil as a lion who prowls around looking to attack. The moment we break God’s commands and leave His protection, we are like open prey that Satan is waiting to devour. The lion moves swiftly and quietly, almost undetected by the prey. The lion causes a very fatal wound that is difficult to recover from. This is the future that no one wishes to have.
In this world, the majority of all churches claim to follow God but they neglect to observe the commands of God. Sunday service and Christmas are the Rules of Men and such teachings reject God’s blessings for eternal life. This is why the children of God must study the scriptures and not become deceived by Satan’s lies while becoming spiritually attacked.
Mark 7: 6-9 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites…: “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.” And he continued, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!
Jesus rebuked those who claimed to believe in God while following man-made teachings. He called them hypocrites because they said they were God’s people but they did not keep God’s Commands.
The Command We Choose Determines Our Future
God called those who followed man-made teachings rather than the Commands of God, hypocrites. If we continue to follow man-made teaching such as Sunday service, Christmas, etc. then we too will be labeled as hypocrites in God’s eyes. As the children of God, we must follow the commands of God such as Sabbath service, Passover, etc. Our spiritual well-being and salvation lie heavily on these choices we make. We must not fall into Satan’s deceptive teachings no matter how cunning he is while he prowls around us. Those who God recognizes as the children of God are the ones who obey God’s commands.
1 John 2: 3-6 We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
God regards us as precious and loves us eternally. And because God loves us, He gives us His commands so that we can enter the spiritual world. To keep us safe, God gives us His commands to defeat Satan’s attacks. God wants us to live and lead us into the Kingdom of Heaven. That is why we must keep God’s Commands as the children of God until the end.
